The world at that time felt that folks would never
get comfortable with the internet, and certainly not with doing
any sort of credit
card based business on it. So it felt like a bit of a crap shoot,
investing time in the thing, but it seemed like it was, at the
very least, moving forward. Well we know where it all went. It
was interesting that the general populace had no problem giving
their
credit card to a gas station attendant, who

would disappear
into the little booth to run it through, and certainly have the
ability to jot down the number, but when it came to inputting the
number into an online form, there was tremendous resistance, initially.
Ben was asked by a couple of artists and galleries
to
do web sites for them, which he did, and so he had a sort of a home office version
of the garage band. He didn't make anything off of the sites other than a little
art, but there was a tremendous value in what he had to learn to do the sites,
and his goals were slowly coming into focus.
